| Committee
on trustees seeks nominations for the PDS board
|
January 14, 2008
Dear PDS Families,
We are writing to ask your help in identifying members of our community
who may be interested in using their skills and experience on behalf
of Poughkeepsie Day School. Specifically, we are looking for people
who would like to serve as either a PDS trustee or a member of one
of our board committees.
Our bylaws stipulate that our board must include 15 parent trustees
and up to 10 community (non-parent) trustees. The Committee on Trustees
has responsibility for recommending a slate of nominees for the
board and the Committee on Trustees. Accordingly, we are seeking
your thoughtful consideration to help us identify the best possible
candidates to fill these positions in 2008-09 and future years.
As you probably know, every segment of our community-parents, students,
faculty, administrators and alumni-contributed to the creation of
Vision 2020, PDS's exciting new strategic plan for growth and sustainability
for the next three years and beyond. The multifaceted work needed
to achieve the goals set forth in this plan offers a range of opportunities
to participate creatively as a trustee or as a member of one of
the plan's task forces.
We recognize that not everyone is able to offer the level of volunteer
commitment required of a trustee. We would also like to hear from
parents who are interested and willing to provide service to the
PDS community in ways other than board membership. There are many
ways to volunteer for PDS through the parents' organization and
classroom activities. You may offer your skills and experience to
the school by joining a board committee, or task force, or serving
on a more informal basis that allows you to step up as needed.
If you are interested in contributing in any of these ways, or
wish to nominate another parent, please click on the following links
for further information:
This is an exciting time in our history and we encourage you to
consider serving Poughkeepsie Day School in some capacity. If you
have any questions, please contact us.
Please return completed nomination forms by February 22, 2008.
Sincerely,
Julie Stevenson
