70th Anniversary Celebration
Help us celebrate Poughkeepsie Day School's 70th Anniversary. Below please find a rotating photo gallery, spanning the decades. If you can name the people in the Photo of the Week and tell us what they are doing, you will win a Poughkeepsie Day School T-shirt and a special mention on this page and the alumni/ae page. (Sorry, only alumni/ae--former students and graduates--may enter. Once you've won, we ask that you give someone else a shot, but do feel free to collaborate with others and have them enter!)

Photo of the Week A real blast from the past: the 50s to be exact. Can anyone identify the children in this photo?? E-mail us if you have a clue! Blocks are alive and well at PDS today. Check out Sky City, constructed in one of the 1-2 classrooms in the winter of 2005.

Photo of the Week We have not one but two winners: FEZA OKTAY '81 and DON POST '82 both identified the photo as the "much beloved game of Four Square" in the Big Room of 39 New Hackensack Road. Pictured in the photo are: Greg McNair '82, Lance Keller '83 and Don Post '82 (Don says they are in the lower left, top left and lower right boxes, respectively, while Feza says he sees Jeremy Tepper '82 and the Page brothers as well as--maybe--Eric Hanson '87.) Nice job! Write to us! We'd love to hear your news... |

Congratulations to MARTHA WINN '81, who e-mailed us the identities of the PDS people in the photo from the 70s below. Martha received a PDS T-shirt for her efforts."The group in the photo includes my brother, Bruce Winn '73, playing the banjo; Mike Gold '73 is the bearded one playing the bass; on guitar is Mia and Jenny Langston's brother, whose first name escapes me at the moment [it is George Langston '74], and the mandolin player is either Danny Gifford ''74 (I think?) or Jeff Glass '74. They're probably performing on the stage in the Big Room at the old school. They used to practice in our living room all the time, and they even went on a short tour once and lived out of a very funky VW bus." Mike Gold is in touch with us (see Winter 2004 issue of Currents). How about the rest of you guys? Write to us and tell us what you're up to! |
| We have another winner! AARON BARKER '04: come on down! Aaron correctly identified Adam Baz '03, Dinah Fried '99 and Dore Murphy '04 pictured at the ribbon- cutting ceremony during Founders' Day weekend of 1998 (Aaron said 1997, but, close enough) that officially opened the "new building" on Boardman Road (which some people kept calling the Briefing Center...arggh...the old IBM name). The building was renamed the Elizabeth C. Gilkeson Center the following fall (1999) during our 65th anniversary. |

Congratulations
to ALLISON TOEPP '03 who correctly identified Ashtaad Dalal
'03, Flynn Jones '01 and Hallen Korn '02. And, yes,
they are preparing a meal as part of the middle school community service
project at the Lunch Box in Poughkeepsie.
