PDS is excited to be participating in the IBM K - 12 Matching Grants
program. Unique among corporate matching grants programs, it enables IBM
employees and retirees to contribute selected IBM equipment and software
to eligible K-12 schools of their choice by donating only 20 percent of
the retail value, with IBM matching the rest. For example, a cash gift
of $1,000 from an IBM employee or retiree to the Day School translates
into $5,000 to be used for such purchases.
Thanks to three PDS board members, who spearheaded the school's involvement
in the IBM K-12 Matching Grants program, over the past three years, the
school has realized more than $165,000 in IBM equipment at no cost to
the school!
Participating in this special program is easy. But it is important to
note that the IBM employee/retiree does not send a donation directly to
the school. Matching program paperwork must be filled out with the donor's
signature and IBM serial number and the check must be made payable to
IBM. The donor is eligible for a tax deduction for the amount of his/her
portion of the donation. (An IBM employee/retiree can donate any amount
up to $5,000 per year through this special program.)
For more information, contact
Sandra Moore, director of development and communications, at 845-462-7600,
extension 110; she will put the PDS IBM parent coordinator in touch with
you who, in turn, will guide you through the paperwork process. Once the
order is placed, the school will send a tax letter to the donor.
Current and retired IBM employees who are affiliated
with PDS (current and alumni/ae parents, grandparents and alumni/ae grandparents
and former students and graduates) will be invited to our fall IBM/PDS
reception. Stay tuned for date/time/location.
