Our academic program stresses active learning. It is our goal
to keep the love of learning alive as students progress through
the middle school years, while providing them with appropriate challenges.
Classes are planned to incorporate a balance of whole group instruction
and discussion, individual work and collaborative learning through
small group activities. Fundamental skills are covered in all areas
of the curriculum, laying the foundation for increasing self-direction
and independent study as children mature. Recognizing that not all
children develop at the same rate, we strive to be flexible and
responsive to the different ways in which they learn. Classes in
the middle school emphasize the development of critical reading,
writing and thinking abilities; analytical research skills; scientific
and mathematical reasoning; and beginning literacy in another language.
