Poughkeepsie, NY--Poughkeepsie Day School's professional company in residence, Half Moon Theatre, presents the highly-acclaimed play, The Yellow Boat, by David Saar, in the James Earl Jones Theater, February 14-17 and February 21-24.
A "theatrical work of stunning beauty, soaring spirit and imagination," the play has been honored by the American Alliance for Theatre and Education with its Distinguished Play Award, as a New Visions/New Voices Selection by the Kennedy Center and as recipient of the Outstanding Play Award from the Theatre for Young Audiences/USA. Based on a true story written by the father of an eight-year old boy who contracts HIV/AIDS, parent/viewer discretion is advised.

Poughkeepsie, NY--Poughkeepsie Day School will host a free public screening of the romantic independent film, Racing Daylight, on Thursday evening, January 24th at 7 pm in the school's James Earl Jones Theater. The movie, filmed in Ulster County, was written and directed by Poughkeepsie Day School alumni parent Nicole Quinn, and stars fellow alumni parent, Dutchess County resident and Academy-Award nominee David Strathairn. The director, along with producer Sophia Raab-Downs, will be on hand to introduce the film.
Told as three short stories, Racing Daylight is a magical love story of hope and forgiveness set against the backdrop of the historic Hudson River Valley. It is a contemporary love story, ghost story, and murder mystery. The film, released in 2007, has been shown at the Woodstock Film Festival, the Kansas International Film Festival and other venues.
