Beginning-Level Spanish Teacher for Grades 7–9
Poughkeepsie Day School is seeking a part-time teacher of beginning-level Spanish for grades 7–9.
The position requires a creative and constructivist approach, along with experience in creating active and interactive learning and engaging students with a world language.
B.A. required; M.A. preferred. Previous experience teaching in a school setting required; experience in an independent school preferred.
Middle and High School Science Teacher (part- or full-time)
Poughkeepsie Day School is seeking a part- or full-time teacher of cellular and human biology, cognitive neuroscience, bioethics and STEM areas for grades 7–12.
interact well with adolescents and adults, parents, students and faculty. Candidates must be able to act independently as well as collaboratively, to exercise good judgment and initiative and to maintain confidentiality.
Responsibilities include preparation and distribution of documents and correspondence, organization and maintenance of files, phone and email communication, taking attendance, coordination of high school events and maintaining student records across several databases.
Word processing (MS Word and Excel) and database management skills are required. Strong language skills (proofreading, editing) are essential. Experience in a school setting preferred. B.A. required.
Math Teacher: Grades 7 through 12
PDS is seeking an experienced math teacher for grades 7-12. Candidates must be able to teach a range of topics from algebra through calculus in an innovative and collaborative environment. The ability to teach an engineering elective is desirable.
The position may be full-time or part-time. High proficiency in use of technology and previous teaching experience required. B.A. required; M.A. preferred.
