Jazz Camp at Poughkeepsie Day School marked the completion of its first year with an incredible culminating concert featuring students and artists in residence. The diverse program included classics by jazz greats like Herbie Hancock and Miles Davis as well as pieces written by students.
The camp, which was open to students ages 12 to 18 from throughout the Hudson Valley, focused on building instrumental skills and music appreciation as well as fostering leadership, teamwork and problem-solving. One highlight of the week was an instructional visit from bass virtuoso Ira Coleman.
Stay tuned for details about next year's camp!
